"Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence."

Dear Parents/Care Givers,
All seems to have settled down with unavailability of pools at the Leisureplex Centre. While we understand that it is cold during this term, swimming is in heated pools and students are kept warm by your good management of clothing. Thank you.
Thank you to Caladenia staff members of the excellent supervision and care taken of children during lessons.
Two weeks for one half of the school and another two weeks for the other half, is a long time out of teaching and learning cycles and it takes a great effort to keep our students up to standards during this time as swimming tires out students. We may need to look at this over time through our Parent Development Team.
As of today, the isolation period will be FIVE (5) days instead of 7. Mask wearing is not compulsory in most places in WA. The State Government and Dept of Education is still strongly recommending that we wear masks to protect ourselves and others whenever we are in inside spaces.
We appreciate your help in maintaining protective procedures to protect our children and staff.
Thank you to the P&C for providing our students with Fathers’ Day presents last week. We are grateful for the support we get from the P&C for funds to pay for much of our play equipment, resources and media equipment. We have a comparatively small Budget each year with which to pay for electrical and water charges, curriculum resourcing and necessary budgeting for Reserve Funding for replacement goods such as over
· 120 computers/laptops every 3 to 4 years
· Over 40 Interactive Electronic Boards
· 100’s of iPads
· Photocopiers in very block
· Play equipment
· Maintenance of the whole school
· Toilet fixtures, goods and materials
· Sports equipment replacements
· Gardening, cleaning materials
· Etc…we do all this each and every day to maintain a highly effective school that produces the best results and student growth in WA – all with a very low budget
We need YOU…please provide some time and effort or funds to your P&C…they are our saving grace each and every year and every year we need more, especially at this time when resourcing is costing much, much more.
Your Parent Development Team is assisting us in understanding what and why we have to raise awareness of needs of students these days – it is far more costly to buy anything and yet we have a large amount of family outstanding Contributions and Charges overdue for 2022. We need your support – we need your help.
Walk/Ride to School
Thank you to the many more parents and children walking/riding to school these days. It certainly helps the traffic situation, especially as it becomes finer weather.
School Board Meeting on 22 September at 6.30pm
23 September is the last day for Term 3.
Parent Development Meeting
We had our Inaugural Meeting on 1 September and was well attended by members and many items for the next agenda were raised.
The meeting came up with several issues/items
o Parents are extremely happy with the quality and standards of Caladenia
o The Team will be developing itself over the next few months/year.
o The Team will understand exactly how the school operates and why as we develop the context of information for the Team
o Surveys – we need more families to connect with these as they inform us of what and why we need to change things for the future
o P&C need for support was discussed
o How COVID has affected us at school
o Parent Development needs such as night events for cyber bullying, resilience, teaching parents how to help students at home
o Members are excited to see where the Team may head in the future
We have issues the Parent/Carer Survey to you via email over two weeks ago. We hope you will take the opportunity to respond to the Survey as it is used for future change management in the school. It allows us to note what we do well and what may be a challenge for us. Please respond up to 16 September 2022.
Thank you for your continued support. We are very grateful.
Have a great weekend, everyone.

Last Day of Term 3
Magpie Swooping Season
It is coming to that time of the year again. We ask that you to be extremely vigilant when walking past trees (especially the staff car park areas). Magpies are territorial during spring whilst protecting their young and may swoop. We suggest you walk around the area or bring along an umbrella for protection. Please do not use sticks of any kind or throw items at them.
There is signage around the areas to remind you of magpie swooping season. There is little else we are allowed to do.
At Caladenia, we love showcasing our students’ sporting achievements and events, as well as any other interests that they would like to share with our Caladenia Community.
If you have something your child would like to share, please email along with photos to the email address below:
Caladenia School Voluntary Contribution and P&C Contributions for 2022 are now overdue. These funds go towards resources, equipment and events throughout our school. We still have large amounts of outstanding payments from families and ask you to please make payments via the front office. We have EFT facilities available and also accept cash. With electronic media and teaching resourcing required to teach your children these days, we need every bit of funding to be able to afford these. Please be generous with the payment of your contributions. Thank you

Kindy Room 1- Mrs Craigie
In Kindy, we have been reading the texts The Little Red Hen and Farmer Duck. We made some predictions about the texts using pictures. We followed a directed drawing experience to create our own hens and then painted them. We then had a go at sequencing the characters from the stories.
Old McDonald’s Farm came to visit all the Kindy classes. We were able to pat all the animals and feed the goat a bottle of milk. Farmer Chris showed us how he uses his stock whip. It was very loud!
When we came back to class we drew a picture of what we saw at the incursion and had our first go at writing all by ourselves.
We are so clever in Kindy.
Year 3 Room 9- Mrs Smith
Term 3 is always a busy one and the past two weeks have reflected this in Room 9. We have participated in swimming lessons at Cannington Leisure Centre and being in the first session each day meant that everyone had to be super organised and ready to leave school on the siren. Students have enjoyed the change in routine, and all tried their best to improve their swimming technique. Travelling on the bus each day has shown us just how well behaved and good-mannered the students in Room 9 are. Congratulations, Super Stars!
In class, we have been having fun learning about scales and measurement. We started with length and distance, moved on to mass in grams and kilograms, and are now looking at the difference between volume and capacity. We have been working hard on, using rulers, scales and weights, and different containers and items for volume and capacity. We have used standard measuring units as well as non-standard units such paper clips and pebbles. Before our swimming lessons started, we were also practising the games and events for the upcoming faction athletics carnival, which will take place in week 1 next term. What a busy term 3 we are having.
Enrolments are now open for VacSwim swimming lessons during the October school holidays.
VacSwim offers fun lessons pool locations across WA. Not only is VacSwim a great school holiday activity, it also teaches valuable safety skills to help keep your child safe in the water.
Your children can start as young as five years old.
Places are limited, so get in early. Enrol your children in VacSwim now at education.wa.edu.au/vacswim
The athletics carnival is coming up in Week 1, Term 4.
The canteen will not be open so please ensure students have enough food and water for the day.
There will be a coffee van and Boost Juice van available for refreshments.
