"Don't let the fear of losing be greater than the excitment fo winning."
- Robert Kiyosaki
Dear Parents/Care Givers,
NAPLAN
The testing is over for 2021. The students had been well-prepared by the teachers and were comfortable in doing their Tests. These Tests are National and everyone in Years 3 and 5 complete them. We use the confidential information of where our students were challenged and we develop an analysis of the data so that we prepare for improvement in 2022. We have a very well developed data analysis and priority-setting process in place – we leave no stone unturned to ensure we improve each and every year.
Thank you, teachers for your excellent work with the students and a big thank you to the students in Years 3 and 5 for the commitment to the integrity of the Testing.
COVID -19
Here we go again – today the State Government has imposed a border lockdown to Victorian residents. Please be aware that travel to and from that State will have isolation rules attached.
Parking/Traffic
Thank you, parents. The improvement in parking and driving has been significant – a bit of patience and common sense out there is appreciated for the benefit of our students.
Social/Emotional Development
We work very hard each and every day to teach our students the value of being nice to one another and how that happens through practice. Our students are extremely good at reflecting what they are taught in these areas and each day they amaze us all as over 900 students get to talk, walk and play together in absolute harmony. We are so proud of them and proud of you as parents in shaping their lives with excellent values and respect and manners. Thank you for your partnership in this journey for your children. They are getting the best of us.
Mathematics
Our teachers are re-focusing on the skills of teaching Mathematics at Caladenia and are in the process of re-writing the Mathematics Strategies for 2022/2023. I am proud of the excellence in teaching that our teachers reflect in this review process. Thank you, staff.
Reporting
This is a Reporting Term for Semester 1. Our students will be bringing Reports home on 2 July 2021. There should be no surprises at Reporting time as staff and parents should have met to discuss each child’s progress by now.
If you get the time, read a famous poem…”Desiderata”…it is as relevant now as it was when written in 1927. It is amazing and insightful.
“Be cheerful! Strive to be happy.”
Best wishes.

Principal

Year 3 Room 14 – Mrs Wall
In Room 14, we have been learning about chickens and the journey of the egg from the farm to our plate. Students were asked to represent this in a story map. We also learnt about caged and free range chickens. Students were asked to design and make a chicken pen.
Year 5 Room 15 – Mrs Santini
The students of Year 5, Room 15, completed an investigation based on the States Of Matter. We explored the properties of different solid materials such as chalk, flour, cloth, laundry detergent and an eraser. We had lots of fun stretching, reshaping, scratching and trying to break different solids. We learnt that powders are actually classified as solids! We had lots of fun!
We would like to say a big “Thank you!” to all families that participated in the Walk to School day on Friday 14th May. Even though it was chilly and overcast, there were many families and students that walked, rode, scootered or even skated to school and received a sticker from the teachers who were out.
