Affirmation ∼ “Be faithful to that which exists within yourself.” – André Gide
Dear Parents/Care Givers,
Thank You
It is really wonderful to see and feel the support from our community over the past few days. We really do the best for your children both socially/emotionally and academically. We protect them from harm while at school and insist on the best care for them by a zero policy on bullying and other forms of possible harm. We also provide the children with the best understanding of how to remain resilient through issues and problems – this takes time and a great deal of effort on the part of all of us at Team Caladenia. Thank you for supporting your children to understand that consequences are not hurtful, but we learn from them for the future. Thanks for being that parent who understands what we are trying to do at Caladenia is proactive and helpful for healthy growth of every individual in our school.
After School
Caladenia has an After School Care facility on site to cater for families who cannot be here to pick up children after school on time. The number of students waiting in the front office after school is preventing families from quality service by our expert staff. We have duty of care for students and we would be very concerned if one of these children inadvertently went missing. This can be a dangerous practice if children decide to walk home without telling us they are leaving the office.
Reflection
A culture of high care, high standards and high performance is underpinned by respectful and professional relationships whereby students and staff are provided with ongoing quality opportunities to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to achieve their potential. (Public School Independent Review of Caladenia 2023).
Reconciliation Week
Thank you to our wonderful teachers for their great work in making reconciliation effective at Caladenia by showing our students that our First Nations people are loved and cared for as we all are here. Thank you.
Welcome
On Tuesday 4 June, our school obtained the services of Miss Sanders, Deputy Principal. We welcome her to our lovely school and we wish her the very best in her new role. Miss Sanders has already made a great impression on the children and staff at the school. She replaces Mr. Smyth while he is on leave.

· P&C DISCO for the Kindy and pre-Primary students on Wednesday 5 June was a great success with our children loving the dancing and music on the day. The “little ones” raised a good deal of funds for the P&C and we thank parents and teachers in giving the children a wonderful time.
· Tonight is P&C DISCO Night. It promises to be a wonderful event for the Year 1-6 children. Have a great time everyone.
· Please refer to the Term Planner for events coming up, but the following ones are imminent – Interschool Winter Carnival on 14 June, Yr 3 Museum Excursions on 17, 19 and 20 June, MAC Excursion on 19 June, School Cross Country on Monday 20 June
· School Photos on 25-27 June (last week of school)

Year 3 Room 9 – Miss Goncalves
We have been having a fantastic time learning in Room 9. This week, we learnt all about how we use Collective Nouns to represent a group of people, animals, or things. We explored some common and unusual Collective Nouns and even had a competition to see who could name the most. Our favourite Collective Nouns were an embarrassment of pandas, a grumble of pugs and a cloud of grasshoppers.
Year 6 Room 37 – Mrs Weissflog
Room 37 students have completed a unit of work on the processes involved in rice production, from the farm to the plate. The challenge was to design a rice transporter that needed to have a wheel and axle to transport ½ cup of rice over 1 Metre by either pushing or pulling. Students were expected to use recycled materials. Students shared thoughts with each other as they created their transporters. The design and plan process proved much easier than the create and test process. Some of the simplest designs work more efficiently and we all realized the importance of plan, design, test, reflect and then try again to improve our designs. Proving that designing and inventing is very rarely accurate the first try. There are many blossoming engineers and inventors in Rm 37!

Getting to Know our School Board Members
This week Chao Sun and Cindy Booth have reflected on their years of experience as a member of the Caladenia School Board.
Chao Sun
As I continue my role on the school board in 2024, I remain deeply passionate about providing our children with an exceptional education. Over the past 9 years, I’ve gained valuable insights into the education system, including the immense challenges of upholding the high standards of our school and the dedication required to be an effective educator. I have seen firsthand the unwavering commitment of our school staff in the face of these challenges.
I am grateful for the tireless efforts of Mr. Nastasi and the entire Caladenia team in creating a nurturing environment where our children can thrive. It is through our collective involvement as parents and community members that we can ensure the continued success of our wonderful school.
Together, let us build a strong foundation for our children’s future, supporting them with a caring and engaged community. I am honoured to serve on the board and look forward to working with you all in this shared mission.

Cindy Booth
My Name is Cindy Booth, I have been a member of the School Board since the School began in 2007. When my eldest child was in pre-primary and is now studying at university to be a primary school teacher. I have also volunteered with the P&C over many years.
I have found working with the School board and the wonderful staff at Caladenia over the years to be very rewarding. The support we give to the Staff and Children of Caladenia makes it easier for the teachers to keep giving outstanding and excellent education and care to everyone in the school.
I highly recommend that you give everyone who works and volunteers at Caladenia your full support, because for me the Caladenia community is an extension of my family and I love all of you.
When the opportunity arises to join the School Board, please don’t hesitate, as I said it’s very rewarding.
