    Dear Parents/Guardians

    Well Done

Thank you to the 30+ parents who turned up for the second AGM of the P&C after my note to you. The P&C much appreciates your attendance and input to the school community – the P&C is a forum for educational discussion, community building and raising funds for the students of the school to spend on extraordinary equipment and resources so that our students are advantaged during their primary school life.

All positions are now filled although the P&C would like some extra members to be sure of having sufficient numbers for Exec Meetings.

    Academic Notes

Our Whole School Improvement Plan 2017 stipulates our direction for teaching and learning for this year. Our main focus is on Writing and Reading –  our students should read and write each day of the year. Our Writing results in 2016 were very average but still above Like Schools and the National Average but below our Targets and standards we set for ourselves in our Business Plan 2015-2017.  Please keep yourself up-to-date with our Targets and directions through our Business Plan 2015-2017 and our planning documents on our web pages. It is good to know what and how teachers and the school are guided by the school community in developing Plans through your School Board.

Our focus on upgrading our teaching and learning strategies, such as Explicit Instruction and Kagan, is working very well and produced some exciting results. These, with our teacher-written Scope and Sequence, QTLP, Handbook 2017, allows our teachers the confidence to approach all curriculum content matters successfully by knowing exactly what and how we need to teach. Your teacher will explain this to you.

We look forward to a successful and high academic rating in our NAPLAN for 2017.

The school Executive, School Board and P&C has done much to improve the parking and set-downs around the school. The new parking and set-down arrangements are working well.

However, with your help, we can do better by

    • Using Kiss and Ride bays as set-downs ONLY – do not park in these and take students into school – let the students get into school quickly and calmly
    • When parking in the new car bays inside the school please do not park behind others so they can’t get out – this car-park is NOT a set-down area – you must park in the designated bays.
    • Do NOT park in the Staff Car Parks as the staff need to be in school early and be there until later in the afternoon. They need to be able to leave their car all day in safety.
    • When leaving after you have dropped off your children, please proceed anti-clockwise around Bushy Gardens and enter Fraser Rd from Beauly Parade.
    • Do not park on the grassed areas or footpaths around the school – there are reticulation pipes and other services that can be damaged as well as students

Thank you, all. I am sure we can all get a little frustrated in the mornings and afternoons but it is only for a few minutes each day. Please have patience and keep calm and understanding.

We cannot do any more than we have done – the rest is up to you.

    School Staff

All staff at Caladenia are involved in updating their skills and knowledge in personal and professional growth regularly. We learn to improve our teaching and building relationships with students, parents and each other and pass this on to the children in our care by modeling caring and nurturing behaviours to our students. It is up to adults to show the way for children to grow into these types of well-rounded social citizens themselves. We MUST care and love our students so that they feel comfortable and safe and able to engage in constructive and lasting top quality education for each and every child in our care – a tall order but one in which we are continuing to improve. Well done to our Caladenia Team for connecting with our professional and personal learning training. I am very proud of leading this school community.

    Thank you.

     Contributions and Charges

A reminder of the Contributions and Charges 2017

Contributions and Charges are now due for 2017.  Contributions can be made at the school office by cash, cheque, EFTPOS or Credit Card.  Payments can also be made by direct deposit to the school bank account – BSB 066040 A/C 19900612, with your child’s name in the reference field.

The cost of education, including instruction, administration, establishment and maintenance of buildings are met by government funding. The Education Act 1999 allows government school budgets to be supplemented by local fundraising and prescribed contributions and charges to further enhance the learning experiences of children.

The total amount of contributions parents and carers are being asked to pay for students at Caladenia Primary School is $60 per child, no matter which class they are in.

The quality of our teaching and learning program will be maximised when each family makes its contribution to the cost of supplementing funding gained from all sources.

Money collected will be used to supplement school expenditure in the areas listed below:

    • Classroom resource materials e.g. art supplies, computer equipment, etc.
    • Library books and materials
    • Cooking and Craft (Kindergarten and Pre-primary students only)
    • Photocopying for class work
    • Sporting equipment
