‘Occasionally in life there are those moments of unutterable fulfillment which cannot be completely explained by those symbols called words. Their meanings can only be articulated by the inaudible language of the heart’

    Dear Parents and Care Givers,

Another remarkable achievement by the P&C has been the Book Club efforts this year. Ms Ginny Beh has coordinated the Club this year and has raised a staggering $9,281.00. This is extraordinary and Ginny will be rewarded with a gift from Ashton Scholastic at this Friday’s Assembly at the school at 8.35am. Thanks, Ginny and thanks to the P&C for running the Club in 2017.

Thank you for organising the morning recess break eats and drinks for our students at the Carnival – it was much appreciated by all students. Good job.

Monday night of this week was the P&C Planning Meeting and many great ideas were proposed for 2018. The P&C set the agenda for events for 2018 and it is clear that it is still struggling with lack of support for the P&C organisation of these events. We need more people! If everyone gave one hour of their time once in 2018, we would be able to run all events and raise much needed funds for your children to benefit from. The P&C have achieved so much in 2017

    • We have a new Year 1 and 2 Covered Sandpit which is fantastic and used heavily every day by so many children
    • We are able to erect a new covered area adjacent to our existing one (where we hold Assemblies and events) during this year
    • The school has new iPads thanks to the P&C

    Academic Notes

We are trying to step up to the next level of improvement this year in our results of student achievement by making adjustments to our teaching strategies and common teaching practices across the school. Each year, the School Board reviews our results/data and makes suggestions about what we may do to improve in our rate of success in teaching and learning. Each year, as a result of these reviews by staff, Board and Executive, we amend our Quality Teaching and Learning Policy, Handbook (2017 for this year) and our Strategic Plan. We follow a Whole School Improvement Plan 2017 and this outlines how and why we make improvements in our plans for change. We have a very progressive and professional staff who work smart to produce the best results by improving their teaching practices each and every year. Talk with your classroom teacher about how we do this – they will explain our approaches and specific ways of what , why and how we teach. You will be excited by what we can achieve in working together with you (especially in reading) to improve student achievement.

Thank you for your assistance in helping your children practice their reading every day.

Safety around the school is a high priority for the School Board and our Caladenia community. To bring about long-term and lasting change to parking behaviour, we need to educate ourselves to be better at observing what we are all trying to achieve together – that is, safety for our children and a positive attitude towards following simple rules which are designed around safety and orderly practices.
We have allocated a more efficient car parking system for you where the entry and number of bays have been improved to lessen congestion in that 15 minute window each morning and afternoon. Entry is now via the first driveway near the corner of Bushy Gardens and Fraser Rd. The number of bays offered have been increased and the directional flow around the school has been set as anticlockwise entering from Bushy Gardens and exiting via outlets around the Bushy Gardens/Beauly Parade circuit.
The parking and drop-off appear to have improved significantly, along with having a crosswalk attendant.
Again, thank you to the parents and Caladenia staff who contributed to making our parking more effective. The car-park off Fraser is now out of bounds, along with the car park in front of the Kindy.
Please read the attached flyer from the City of Gosnells which may help us in our quest to improve our parking and drop-off habits.

    Contributions and Charges 2017

Contributions and Charges are now due for 2017. Contributions can be made at the school office by cash, cheque, EFTPOS or Credit Card. Payments can also be made by direct deposit to the school bank account – BSB 066040 A/C 19900612, with your child’s name in the reference field.
The cost of education, including instruction, administration, establishment and maintenance of buildings are met by government funding. The Education Act 1999 allows government school budgets to be supplemented by local fundraising and prescribed contributions and charges to further enhance the learning experiences of children.

The total amount of contributions parents and carers are being asked to pay for students at Caladenia Primary School is $60 per child, no matter which class they are in.

The quality of our teaching and learning program will be maximised when each family makes its contribution to the cost of supplementing funding gained from all sources.

Money collected will be used to supplement school expenditure in the areas listed below:

    • Classroom resource materials e.g. art supplies, computer equipment, etc.
    • Library books and materials
    • Cooking and Craft (Kindergarten and Pre-primary students only)
    • Photocopying for class work
