“It is reminding us of how important our family and home life is and how much we have neglected this. It is forcing us back into our houses so we can rebuild them into our home and strengthen our family unit”. – Bill Gates

    Dear Parents/Care Givers

    Dear Parents/Care Givers,

I need to thank some very important people during these very difficult times.

These people are our staff members in our schools, especially ours at Caladenia. These wonderfully brave and committed professionals come to work every day knowing the dangers and knowing that they are at the frontline of supporting our future generation of people, our children.

They have continued despite their own personal issues and problems. I am so proud of them all.

They are continuing to support your children by spending their time preparing professionally prepared work packages that are relevant to our students’ levels of achievement – they are doing a fantastic job of these and will be rolled out for Term 2, when we know what that will look like in an educational sense. The professionalism and their dedication to your children is astounding and I think we should all give them a resounding thanks for being who they are at this very stressful and dreadful time in our world.

To you, the parents of our wonderful school, I thank you sincerely for the many votes of support you have given us over the past few weeks – we don’t have all the answers and yes, we may get some things out of kilter but we are doing everything in our power to protect and keep our children and staff safe from the virus. Please understand that while you may be in fear of the future for you and your family, these people at school each have their families and fears of their own.

Thank you for your cooperation with these measures we have put in place for our children and staff. You are a fantastic group of people and we love serving you in the best way we can.

Finally, it is a different world at present and we understand that it could get even more different but be assured that as we move forward, we will continue to keep you informed and we will insist on the best for our students and staff. ‘Virtual’ classrooms, mixed media modes of teaching and learning, classroom teaching or whatever the rest of 2020 holds in terms of educational provision, we will be at the forefront giving our students the best.

At this stage, Term 2 commences on Tuesday 28 April 2020.

THOUGHT:      COVID-19 – It is reminding us that we are all equal, regardless of our culture, religion, occupation, financial situation or how famous we are. This disease treats us all equally, perhaps we should too.

Keep well – your family needs you to be healthy. This is a time when we can help one another by doing the hard things – stay home.

    Best wishes,

    Ted Nastasi

    Class  News

    Year 2 Room 12

We have been learning about different cultures in H.A.S.S. On Harmony Day we dressed in our traditional dress and drew ourselves to make a paper chain. We used Aboriginal Symbols to tell a story. It has been lots of fun learning about other cultures.

    Year 4 Room 34

Last Saturday 23rd March was Harmony day around the country. The message we take from this special day is that ‘everyone belongs’. So in Room 34 we celebrated the many cultures that make up our class. Some of the activities we completed showed us how we share many similarities, but also the differences we all have that make us unique. We taught each other how to write in different languages and how all of our hand prints can come together to form an amazing piece of art.
