    From the Principal

    Dear Parents and Care Givers,

Thank you for your patience and support during these worrying times. As we have stated many times, we will get through this and we will protect the students and staff along the way in the best way we know how.

As you are now aware, we have made some seriously important decisions so far which have impacted on families and staff in a major way.  All the time, we have covered the Government’s regulations/guidelines and suggestions to the letter, but have enhanced the safety factors at times to reinforce our promise to you that we would do what is necessary to protect your children.

The response from families has been tremendously supportive and some have even been very gracious in sending along chocolates and other goodies for the staff. We all thank you for your generosity of understanding and what we do for your children at this school.

We, as a community, certainly deserve the title of School of the Year for 2019/2020.

    Thank you once again.

Today, we have 717 students back at school (out of a possible 908). That is really heart-warming to see the confidence that you place in us for the care and safety of your children. We hope to see our school full in the next couple of weeks as we transition back to some form of normality for our children and staff.

Over this period of time, the staff at Caladenia has been working hard to ensure continuity of learning for your children by supplying our very own Caladenia work packages, videos and phone conversations with students and families. I thank the staff for their commitment to our students and community while they placed their safety in our hands with the confidence that we would do the right thing by everyone. Thank you, staff of Caladenia.

We have made costly but important changes to our cleaning regimes – employing extra staff to be here during the day to clean and sanitize equipment and surfaces, has been extraordinarily successful. Additionally, there are things that we will be instilling in our daily procedures from now on, such as hand washing and sanitizing more often than in the past.

Finally, I must thank you for your very generous understanding of pick-up times/processes especially, where it has had to change so dramatically. It is working very well with your help – well done.

We are thrilled with the way you have made the Kiss n Drive areas work so well by being aware of others. We will continue to be proactive in our safety processes to control/prevent the COVID-19 from spreading in our community. We will continue to work with you to bring about changes as we progress further into the term.

I wish all Mums a fantastic Mother’s Day this Sunday. I hope you are rewarded for all the time you give to your families.

THOUGHT:      “Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.” – Thich Nhat Hanh

Keep well – don’t relax in what we know has worked for us at Caladenia and WA – social distancing does work and sanitizing helps the spread of the virus. Keep being vigilant for the sake of our most precious resource – our children.

    Kind regards,

    Ted Nastasi
    Principal

    Pre Primary Room 5

P.P 5 have had a great start to Term 2! This week we have been busy creating something special for our mums. We had a go writing about why we love our mum so much and drew a portrait of our beautiful mummies. We hope all the mum’s have a wonderful Mother’s Day on Sunday and are spoilt rotten!

    Year 3 Room 28

Here in room 28, we’ve been learning all about the Mathematics that are involved in board games. We played 4 different board games that involved different Mathematical concepts, such as multiplication and division. After we played those fun games, we made our own board games to demonstrate what we learned. We hope everyone has fun playing these personally made board games.
